  2. Mead recipe in the simplest words.

I need a recipe for a beginner's mead. Preferably only about a gallon. I don't have a huge pot or any equipment, really. I think the biggest thing I have is about 2 gallons, at the most. I'll have to buy all ingredients at Sam's Club, so as basic as possible please. I think that's it. Thank you.

  3. A Guide To Mead

Mead is an alcoholic beverage produced by the fermentation of a diluted mixture of honey and water. Sometimes with fruit and spices added as flavourings it is called by different names, melomel, metheglin, pyment, cyser and a variety of other names. 4. Understand the Numbers on your Fruit

You know those numbers on the little stickers on your fruit? They can give you some useful information about the way your food is grown and help you make important decisions regarding your health and the environment. Conventionally grown produce (with pesticides/inorganic fertilizers) has 4...

  10. guinness cupcakes!!!!!!!

I love cooking with beer and there's no exception when it comes to desserts. Of all beers, stout is the perfect one for desserts because of its distinct chocolate and coffee notes. Pairing it with actual chocolate is the obvious choice. These cupcakes are light in texture but heavy in the chocolate...

  11. Organic Food

I don’t know if people in the UK have heard recently but there has been something of a debate about whether, or not, organic food is better than err non organic food. I know next to nothing about organic food, but am interested in eating healthy, natural food, that supports local farmers. I...

  15. What do you drink when the mead has ran out.

Seriously, what is your favorite non-mead drink. Go ahead and pick 2. Both have to have some alcohol and are not a mixed drink. (you know who you are) Also, name the type and the brand. Me? Right now: Beer: Sam Adams Whiskey: Gentleman Jack How about you?

  16. Blech! Just Tried Mead.

 Oh no! Say it ain't so. I just tried Kurpiowski Royal Mead and it was way too sweet for my taste. It's a Polish mead, maybe there's a difference I'm not aware of. Tell me there's a variety out there that isn't sweeter than a soda pop, please. I'm seriously thinking of pouring some of...

  17. Commercial Mead

The only mead I've found in local liquor stores are Chaucer's Mead which usually runs around $10.99. I think it tastes alright, but I don't have anything to compare it to. When I was in Illinois last week my wife and I stopped by the Piasa Winery and I bought a bottle of Oliver Camelot Mead which...

  18. Thumbs down No German beer at the World Cup

Budweiser is the official beer of the soccer world cup in Germany, and as such soccer fans will be hard-pressed to find a German beer in or around the stadium :( But because of a trademark dispute with the Czech brewery Budweiser Budvar, Budweiser is not allowed to refer to itself as Budweiser,...

  20. Heidrun Mead

I've read a few posts in this section from folks asking about commercial meads. Personally, I think Chaucers is terrible, but to each their own. There is an excellent Meadery in Northern California that does sell online, and they have some great meads. For those of you running low on your home...
