Also, two more questions...so sorry.
1. I keep hearing about the Havamal. Is that the basic text of Odinism?
2. Do we "pray"?
Thanks again! 14/88

We don't necessarily "pray" in the text of the word. We as Odinists have blots, and some do ritualistic blessings and consecrations. These are things that I do. When I say rituals, you can do some by yourself, but some may require a Gothi.
Yes to your first question, it primarily is the basic text. You can find that in "The Temple of Wotan" by Ron McVan. You may be able to find a copy here in http://www.micetrap.net "The Temple of Wotan" is an excellent book almost like a guide. This is the Holy Book of the Aryan Tribes. Hope some of this helps. I am still new to Odinism myself and I have been studying for four years.

I haven't had the 14 Word Press books available for a few years, but I am hopefully getting some in stock shortly. I will try to update this post if I am able to get the copies.

WOW! This may be off topic, but I see people mentioning 'Ron McVan', the '14 Word Press' and see signatures with '14/88'. Has something changed since my last visit? I got kicked off this site several times for much more subtle things.

Yes, we actually allow "freedom of speech" now. The Communists who used to run this forum were kicked to the curb. This is NOT a racist forum, but we do allow members to speak their mind in an intelligent manner. In any community, there are a varying amount of opinions and beliefs, why should this one be any different? As long as things are classy and not vulgar, it is allowed.

The Havamal has the advice of Odin for living. It is a guide, not the only one out there, but a good start anyway.
As to "praying". Yes, prayer has a place in heathenry, but not in the x-tain mindset. We tend to "talk" to our Gods, if we ask for something we usually offer something at the same time. One of the key ideas in Heathenry is "A gift for a gift". And to paraphrase from the Havamal, "it is better to not offer than offer to much". There is much more than most people think to the whole "gifting" process. And I could probably write quite a bit on the matter and confuse folk, but I'll be nice and not do that ;)
