After hearing about Odinism how long was it till you performed your first blot ?
How long after hearing about Odinism did you start to wear a Mjollnir ?

Well I have not performed mine 100% as I would like. I want to have my shrine set up just right. I don't do half measures as a rule. I have been a committed Odinist for about half a year, although I have been interested in the faith for a good few years. I suppose it is a question of performing a blot when you feel ready. I actually wore my Mjollnir quite a while before I decided to be an Odinist.

Before I Could Do My First Blota I Had To Become "man Of The Land" And Be Able To Know Certain Things By Heart, Such As The First 18 Stanza's Of The Rune Poem, The Runes And Their Meanings, The God's And Goddesses And Their Abodes, And Alot Of The Stories....this Was To Make Sure That I Wanted The Knowledge Of The Aesir Before Being Given The Right To Hold Blota. Which Is A Very Sacred Thing

I had been researching Odinism for about four months before I made the decision to dedicate myself to it. The more I learned the stronger the pull became!
I performed my first Blot shortly afterwards, and began wearing my Mjollnir immediately.

I first meet a few Odinist when I was about 14, but I was 26 I think before i started looking into it. I first did a Blot prob a few months latter nothing fancy just trying to make a connection. This is going to maybe sound wierd or come across the wrong way but I beleive while it is good to study and learn as much as possible you should not let not being as well versed as some stop or delay you from your "practice" of the Faith. I admire people who are linguist or are able to spend all their time researching obscure books to further our understanding of the faith, I will prob never be one of those people but I can learn from them. hope I came across the right way.

Very clear Clif, and very much agreed...once you have it right in your own head...then I think you should just naturally do a ritual to "proclaim" it. I don't think there is any "time period". My hubby and I were very green when we first started out (15 years ago), but we, in the very least, named our first child a Heathen name, celebrated the solstices and discovered our Folkways while wearing Hammers, performing rituals, etc... We are STILL learning more and more every day, our kids perceptions from a non Christian upbringing really teach us much! You won't ever stop learning, so why wait to "learn everything"...I guess it is like waiting for that "perfect pitch", just ain't gonna happen!

Hail,
I too wore my Mjollnir and runic symbols long before I heard of Odinism per se,they always just felt right.I have been learning as much as possible over the last 12 months or so since hearing of Odinism.I hope to be taking part in my first Blot in the near future,I believe it will be an important part of my education in our Faith.Blotar are part of Odinism,Odinism is part of me,by heritage and by choice.
Hail Odin

I agree, when I decided that Odinism was for me I just went off to the woods and held a little ritual to proclaim it to the high ones and asked for guidance and support.
If you are going to do a ritual with good intent then there is no need to wait for anything. Just do it. It may be nothing like what others are doing but that is not important. Do what comes natural. It is in your blood.
