Hail All!
This space has gone too long with out a posting!
In the England the OR has a program called OR Fyrd. It not only covers self defense and hand to hand combat, but also Ond breathing, meditation, and fitness, all Odinic influenced. Tyrsson OR is the head of the project and offers training days for free to OR members in various areas around London.
Over here our Hearth has taken up the Fyrd banner and started a small team of 3 adults (well if you count me 4 adults) and 7 kids that compete in local submission wrestling, jiu jitsu and MMA competitions. The last tournament in submission wrestling our team had 2 gold metals, 3 silver, and 2 bronze out of our 9 competitors. This only happened because we all worked together to make sure everyone made it class (which is held @ New Breed Jui Jitsu--Portland, OR), worked out, trained at home, etc... 2 of the competitors travelled over 2 hours to make the tournament and compete.
This may seem a small accomplishment, but between home education, the Hearth, Team Fyrd, and ORV activities (Moots, highway clean up, seasonal gatherings, etc...), we are practicing Folk Building--that is creating/building a strong foundation from which our children can grow and continue to build our Folk.
Hail our Folk!
Hail Folk Building!
Hail OR Team Fyrd!
