I will be attending my first ECT this year with my wife and four month old daughter. Do you have any advice you can give?

I haven't been to the ECT as of yet. But both Steve/Schwarzesonne and Hjuka are both on this forum and will be in attendance. So I would look them up when you get there, or maybe they can chime in on the subject<G>... Above all enjoy the event... There will be alot of good folk there.

"Thing" ?????

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thing_%28assembly%29

A thing (Old Norse and Icelandic: þing; other modern Scandinavian: ting) was the governing assembly in Germanic societies, made up of the free men of the community and presided by lawspeakers. Today the term lives on in the official names of national legislatures, political and judicial institutions in the North-Germanic countries. The English word 'thing', meaning "object" is also derived from this; the evolution having been roughly "assembly" → "court" → "case" → "business" → "purpose" → "object". The German Tag (day, as in Bundestag the German parliament or Tagung) is called so because things were held at daylight and often lasted all day.

Do it man, it will be great for you. E-mail Steve and Hjuka and maybe meet up with them, good chance to talk more about the IG and get a good base on membership and whatnot :)

...hmm, I suppose I'd suggest bringing some spending $$ for wares- we plan to bring a handful, and I'm sure others will be as well... these sorts of events are great for grabbing up all manner of goodies!

Although this gathering will not actually have a "Thing" (law assembly) I plan on attending myself, it will be great to meet with all of you, Valgard
