Greetings all.

I am currently doing a bit of research, and have came across the name Semyaza (Shemhazai, Azaziel, Semiaza, Tiyazi, Tiyaz). I was wondering if anyone might be able to give me a bit of info on either a historical aspect or religious aspect. A specific answer is not sought - anything that is even remotely similar will do wonderfully. I have found more than the above variations, and on my search, only find more and more variations. But still no /real/ information on either a person or a god by this or any other name similar. Thank you very much.

Well the last two sound like they could be Germanic god Tiwaz (OE Tiw, ON Tyr), but probably aren't since the rest are Middle Eastern and you presumeably discovered them in the same context. Semyaza is named as the leader of the rebel Watcher Angles in Enoch 7:3. Azazel is thought to come from "azaz+el" "strong one of god", he first appears in Leviticus 16:8 when Aaron is being told to sacrifice one goat to Jehova and one to Azazel. Semyaza and Azazel both end up being equated with the Hebrew Satan. Wrong place to be discussing them really, since this is a forum about Germanic gods.
