I'm not one for generally making boast in public forums, I tend to do that with others around a horn if anywhere... But I would like to make one today, more to thank those involved with the project more than for myself...
About a year ago an idea gave birth to a project, which has grown over the last year. The project was named Mimesboum, and started out as a Heathen journal for Heathen inmates. It has grown from that to more of an outreach project, that has worked with both inmates and Military over the last year. In 2006 we have mailed approximately 400 journals all over the US, Canada, and Overseas. We have helped dozens of inmates with books-booklets-and other media as requested... Including the gas from a 14hr round trip this past weekend to help a prison kindred kick off their Yule celebrations, that comes close to $500 out of pocket exp's this year (most of that being postage cost... Donations of/for stamps readily accepted)...
Having said that, I would like to thank some folk for their contributions to the project.
Firstly, Hjuka for his help and advice in the early days of this project....
Secondly, Bert & his wife Laura for their contributions, providing us with the tools to put the journal together with, assistance with the mailing list, and contributions to the mailing cost...
Thirdly, there are several folk I would like to thank for their advice-support(moral & literal)-guidance-and inspiration...
Laurel Owens-Kathy(Donars Hearth)-Katia Puryear-Somerled MacDougall-Wes McCollom-Scot Arnjo, all of them members of the Odinic Rite...
Along with Piparskeggr Ullarsson - John Post - Jane Ruck - the Ladies of Wyrd's Way - Else Christensen - Valgard Murray - Gunnsmith...
Lastly, I would like to thank the Inmates... These are people who practice our religion under some of the most oppressive conditions you can find. And yet they do so despite everything that has been stacked against them... Are there some who use it as merely a tool? Yep... But there are also those who do so because they are truly drawn the religion, just as most of you who read this are...
