Sorry it took me so long to post my intro, but here it goes!
I'm an odinist, from Phx, Az. I've lived here for just about 4 yrs and have been researching Odinism for about 6 yrs. My wife is not an odinsit, yet.. and my son, who is very young, doesn't have an opinion!

I take Odinism to heart, I use it in every way shape and form in my everyday life! Most people my looking at me would not even thing that I was an Odinist, but here I am!

To tell you the truth, I always said, when I was younger, I'd never be an Odinist! That was before I understood what an Odinist was... I knew Odinist, but they never tried to explain it to me. But after time and a little research and understanding I'm a full fleged believer and practioner!

At work, no one understands why I believe what I do. The majority of them being catholics, I know why they don't understand me. I don't blame them, I just blame the brainwashing they have endured over the many years! But I do have to say that shortly after moving out here I was able to steer one of my, now, good friends to the Odinist believe... not by force either... just intriduced him to what I practice and all my beliefs... when he was ready to learn. Now he stands behind me all the way. He and I both, with another Odinist that I met out here, celibrate all the holidays together and uphold the Gods to the highest level!

I'm a very open guy and like to consider myself honest! If anyone would like to ask me questions... please feel free to ask! At the same time, I ask that if anyone has some rare, or hard to find stories (from Norse Mythology of course) please share with me! I'm one of those people who like to get as much info as I can to compile it into one big book! I would like to, some time in the future, have a book available to everyone that has everything... instead of having to buy 6-10 books just so you can have the big picture!

Well this may not be what everyone is looking for as an intro, but it's the best I could come up with. If I left something out about me that you are wondering... let me know!

Erm, I think that was quite a decent amount of information for a first post :D , but don't worry, I'll let you know if I think of anything, I'm inquistive, almost to the point of annoying if I want to know something :p

Hello and welcome to the forums :)

Well the good news about asking so many questions... you will find the information you are looking for. As for the person answering... they should just relax and realize that they put the offer out there! So ask away!

Wow that was an informative intro!! You mentioned that you work with a lot of Catholics. I was raised Catholic and my mother is quite religious. She loves to make disparaging (sp?) remarks about Pagans. I alway remind her that I'm not a Pagan I'm a Heathen ;) We've actually had some interesting discussions regarding the origins of different Holidays and traditions (Yule v Christmas and Ostara v Easter) which has really opened her eyes. Maybe you could try that with some of your co-workers.

That's a good strategy, and one I often use with people.

Anglo-Saxon Christianity reveals more of its Heathen origins than the Norman Church. C of E people tend to appreciate robust debates on the early English Church, probably given the independent nature of them both. I don’t know any Catholics, but Anglicans do tend to be less in your face and more willing to discuss, at least in my experience.
