Well after my cancer scare, I have checked out better than healthy in my blood work, but my blood pressure and weight are not acceptable to me.. MY weight got out of hand eve since I have my wreck and did not even realize how bad it had gotten becuse I was carrying it differently so it did not show that much.. we had a good laugh in the office cause we just kept sliding the weight higher and higher, to which the nurse said man I didi not see that coming, lol me either..... I am still being watched for Testicular cancer but I am not resigned to letting that spectre stop me.. I embrace it as a challenge.
So its a new day, and I need to be healthy for my wee one and life in general..
Sooo it is low carb and lots of water foe me, a summer project with a goal of 200Lbs (my average weight} and about 11% bf. I owe it to myself and my family... forging ahead... whish me luck, and the God's give me the resolve I once had in the military to push ahead and make it all happen....

Good luck Chris, its great you are ok and are working towards bettering your health for your wife and daughter. I told you long ago, you are not the only person in your life, you need to be around for them aswell. I mean when your daughter brings home a boy to meet mom, who's going to be there to scare the piss out of him if it isnt you? ;)

I am currently working on becoming healthier aswell. I have gone cold turkey as far as smoking goes, been eating more protien rich foods, less junk and foods with a lot of carbs. Allso been chopping goant blocks of wood with a 15lb axe and chopping down trees with another axe. I see that as a better workout than spending 40 minutes in a weight room with some weights going over the same workout plan and exersizes every day. I want to lose weight, get my lungs stronger and build muscle but allso get some extra power. Ive got a 10lb tub of creatine and two bottles of Hydroxycut fat burners so I figure those will help me a little aswell ;)

Good luck with you on your "Journey" so to speak. Just dont wear that ugly beret anymore LOL!!

I recently quit smoking as well. Just been feeling in a rut lately and want to get into better shape.

I also started a workout routine involving chopping wood and working outside. I feel it is more practical and I actually get something done along with strengthening myself. And I get to see the fruit of my labors... A large pile of wood.

I wish you luck on your journey as well, Teufelhund. May the gods bless you and your family.

Teufelhund,

You shouldn't have a problem getting back into shape. I lost 35 a couple of years ago and have kept it off. I hand an operation and just got lazy afterwards. Just remember the **** they use to tell us in the Corps. Mind over matter. If you don't mind, it don't matter.

Mu-shin: no-mind. Sound familiar?

That's why 'crazy' people are so much to be feared, under the normal run of things- nothing bothers them much but their own version of reality. If they can (be made or regimented to) channel that craziness in productive ways, however, they can be of great use.

Well a new fly in the ointment.......
Even though all my tests are normal.. ie. kidney function, liver, cholesterol, hormones, PSA [prostate} normal... All my tests are better than normal, but... I am still spilling blood in my urine, not visibly detectable but enough to concern the doc. I see another urologist on the 23rd, now they are talking bladder/ testicle cancer again.
I am still dieting and working out though, not going to loose sight..

Teufelhunden, hope all goes well my friend. If the doctor is not concerned about this latest developement then that is good. I know it won't stop you worrying though.

Thanks Brother :)
It is good to have a place to vent it out, I am pretty much a solitary person and do not "share" other than with my wife and daughter. I appreicte your concern :)
