Any more info from ya'll folks across the pond would be appreciated! Had you heard of this situation and is it really that bad there?

FREE SPEECH ON THE ROPES IN ENGLAND

It was towards the end of the program on Friday that this item was brought into my studio. A girls in Manchester, England was arrested and put in jail because she didn't want to be a part of a tutoring group that spoke a language she could not understand.

First .. the source of the article. It came from The Brussels Journal which bills itself as "The Voice of Conservatism in Europe." This website deserves to be bookmarked on your computer.

OK .. here's your story.

A 14-year-old girl, Codie Stott, was assigned to a six-student group to receive tutoring in science at the Harrop Fold High School. The girl had a problem with the group because all of the other five students were Asian and only one of them spoke English. Stott told the teacher "I'm not being funny, but can i change groups because I can't understand them." The teacher then told her that she was a racist and was going to get "done" by the police. She was put in isolation at the school for the rest of the day.

The teacher filed a complaint with the police officer assigned to the school. More than a week later Codie Stott was taken to the police station and placed under arrest. Her fingerprints were taken, as was a mug shot.

According to this article in the Daily Mail, Codie was then questioned of (now get this!) committing a section five racial public order offense. She was placed in a bare cell for three-and-one-half hours. Finally she was released without any charges being brought ... but the matter is still under investigation.

Yes .. it is getting this bad. The left has unleashed the monster of political correctness on our society, and every day we learn of a new absurdity. Sure, this story is about Great Britain, but how long before this type of nonsense reaches our own schools? How long hell!! It's already here! Just look at some of the so-called "free speech" codes that exist on many college and university campuses across the nation.

This is nothing new. There has been no free speech in England for at least 20 years. And it was the Conservatives that were in power when the trend began.

Hey, I am in the US, remember. Conservative and Liberal is WAY different here, I suspect.
I am what is called a *Constitutionalist* here, for lack of a better term.

I heard about this. It's laughable how easily the term "racist" is hurled around, particularly when it comes to the accusation of Whites.

From what I read, there was absolutely nothing unreasonable, let alone racist about her request. Seems perfectly understandable for a person to want to be able to communicate with those they work with. I would have made the same request to the teacher.

It's stories like this that stand as testament to how speedily fundamental Western values such as freedom of speech are going right down the tube.

I'm married but have no children as of yet. I worry though at the state of PC in sociaty by the time I have children and when they begin school. I live in the south where there is a heavy latino flux (I know where is there not right?). I can see thissort of thing happening to my kids as happened to that poor english girl. And what's worse is my kids will probably have my big mouth :D so they'll probably have it harder.

It's what we call "Playing the Race Card"

PS: Thoughts on the N-Word.

Thoughts on the N-word

There are many words in the English language which can be used to denigrate and belittle other human beings, but one word stands head and shoulders above the rest in this regard. One word alone has the power to marginalize someone in the most damaging of ways. Yes, I'm talking about the n-word.

The n-word, of course, has a very specific definition according most dictionaries, but most people who use it in a derogatory manner do so solely out of ignorance and spite and are unaware of its historical usage and meaning.

The n-word is almost always used to verbally belittle members of one specific racial group. Some are quick to point out that some members of this group occasionally use the n-word to refer to each other. Often, this is done in a sort of jocular way. Still, when people outside this racial group use the n-word, it is nearly always designed to be hurtful, belittling, and marginalizing.

The most despicable usage of the n-word comes when it is applied to members of the racial group who value their identity as part of that group and refuse to adapt to the ways of the other racial groups around them. Bigots often malign them using the n-word and make sport of the fact that these people sometimes come from oppressed regions or economically-disadvantaged communities.

Yes, it's a sad testimony to the state of our society that the n-word -- a word with such power to hurt, to degrade, and to disparage -- is thrown around so frequently. It speaks volumes about our society that people who take pride in their identity are so often slandered with the vile n-word. It shows just how malicious people can be that we so often hear the n-word used to trivialize, alienate, and disenfranchise a whole segment of society -- people who may just have something valuable to contribute if we can look past initial appearances and see through the hateful name-calling to listen to what people have to say.

I am asking you now, from the bottom of my heart, to think before throwing out the n-word. Think before you defame, degrade, and denigrate someone just because they are different from you. Think before you use the n-word, a term which can have such a marginalizing and hurtful effect.

Think before you call someone a Nazi.

There have been a few books written that are scarily coming true in the UK today, one is 1984, the other is the Turner Diaries. The self-flagellation of the “anti-racists” is as repulsive as it is disturbing.
