Are there any? I see a few people seem to know another language that for the life of me have no clue what it could be.I was just wondering if anyone cared to share some of their's.
Also, anyone one know what the predominant language of the nordic peoples was?
*Google has just been on the edge of useless latly*

Also, anyone one know what the predominant language of the nordic peoples was?Old Norse for the ancient Norwegians, Swedes, Danes and Icelanders.
I was just wondering if anyone cared to share some of their's.In Old Norse:
Heill! - to greet one man
Heil! - to greet one woman
Heilir! - to greet a group of men
Heilar! - to greet a group of women
Heil! - to greet a group including both sexes
From http://www.hi.is/~haukurth/norse/ - lesson 2.

No I don't think there are any greeting specific to Folkish Heathenism. The greetings you're probably refering to are Old English Ƿæs þu hāl (singular) or Ƿesaþ hāl (plural), meaning "be healthy". You'll sometimes see the Old Norse equivalent ves heill, or heilsa (singular) or heilsan (plural).
The language of the Nordic peoples was Proto-Norse (largely reconstructed) then Old Norse, if by Nordic you mean Scandanavian.

Sorry for the lack of special characters, but there are also:
Far heil: fare well
ves heil: the Norse version of wes hal
welga: go well.
There are many more, just pick up an old Norse dictionary or an Old English one.

Greetings or Hail usually do fine for me.

"Hello" or the german "Hallo" or the french "Salut" are all derived from or mean "Hail". That's folkish enough, isn't it? ;)

I usually use "Heil" or "Hallo" when talking in German, "Hails" in English (although I tend to use "Waes Hael" on fora for it fills up that 10 letter minimum limit for posts :D).
What I found an interesting is the fact of the usage of "Heil" (or even "Heile" for that matter) back home in Tyrol. We all call greet ourselves by that...well one day they had those two East Germans starting to work in my uncle's (owns it together with his brother, they started small) firm...and they were like totally startled by people greeting themselves like that (one of the two had been sent to the headmaster at school for writing "Heimsieg" (home victory) in a story about football when still at school.... :shake: - they like thought they were in some NS country...haha... :p

Thats pretty much what I meant in my own smart-*** way.
We were talking the oter day about what our reaction would be if someone walked up and said "wasail" or some such greeting.
On similar note, maybe folkish people should establish a secret hand shake? :D

On similar note, maybe folkish people should establish a secret hand shake? :DActually, according to a book I have, heathen Scandinavians "shook" hands (they didn't shake the hands though, just grab) as on the picture below, when they were about to begin "wrestling", and it meant to promise each other a good sporting fight and good intentions. The hand shake of today I guess wasn't known, my guess is that this was the only way to "shake hands" and that it meant more than today so they didn't do it as often.

That is too funny, a secret handshake.
Personally, I am not ashamed of my beliefs, and my reaction to an Odinist greeting me in public with "Wassail", "Heilsa", "Skaal and Hail", or (being the Irminist that I am) "Alaf Sal Fena" would be positive. If other people look at me and are like, WTF, that's their problem. I live in America, we have a thing called freedom of religion (and freedom from religion) here.
But a secret handshake.... hmmmm, I'll have to think about developing that.

If you had one blurt to give for the rest of your life, you sure would be taking a lot of useful oxygen from those that deserve it.....
Not all Heathens I consider family, not all do I consider brother or sister. There are very few I consider family so no, I would never call someone I consider a stranger by a family title. Family is someone I trust with my children's lives, believe me, that list is VERY short. Some know who they are, others can figure it out. But for me to call every walking corpse that calls themselves a Heathen brother is pathetic. Maybe cousin, but not a brother. I have been stabbed in the back by those I was forced to call brother because I was told to do so. Not all I do call family are Heathen.
Then again, earning my respect is hard enough, trust is even harder.
I'll stick to Howdy or if I think I will like you Howdy Howdy......

In the lovely city in NJ where I grew up, the standard greeting was, "HEY! D**chebag! Hands off the car!" (This said while leaning on ones' car horn at a crosswalk.) The correct response was, "Hey a**hole! I'm walkin' here!!"
Ah, the beauteous ways of New Jersey-folk...

LOL Where I am NOW is. I live up in the mountains in northwest NJ now. I'm surrounded by nothing but woods, a trout stream, and the occasional bear or coyote. The deer population is humongous, and in the early AM fog from the town's 8 lakes covers everything. It's beautiful.

Hand shake is interesting as a chivalric code, also you get to check and make sure your opponent does not have a dagger shoved up the sleeve, good sport. Nice picture up there, the guys are rather stocky.
Not certain of the spelling so I shall try to be phonetic, tra-fel-ya-kin, anyone hear that or use it?
Heilsa is fun to great the boss with.
