View Full Version : Odinic Rite question
I am considering joining the Odinic Rite but have a question that I would appreciate being answered by OR members.
If I was to attend OR events, blots etc., would it be permissible to bring along my wife? She is not an Odinist but is sympathetic to the core values of Odinism and would raise a drinking horn to the Gods as well as the next man!
I just wonder whether OR meets are strictly for OR members and Odinists or whether the kith and kin of OR members are welcome to events even if they are not Odinists.

Well Hengest's wife Fran is not an Odinist, I know that much but she is very supportive of the OR, our ways and I know she has gone to help clean up at the White Horse Stone and has gone to the Odinic Rite Folk Camps and whatnot. Things like Blots all depend on what blots you are talking about, if they are "Special" cases as in OR members gathering from all around the UK or Vinland or whatever then I would take a guess in saying they are for OR members only while individual members' kindreds have their own rules on wether "outsiders" can come or not.
I know Hengest has offered to allow a beautiful young English woman I met online and sent "his way" who is new to Odinism to come to one of his kindreds blots just to see how its done and get more of a feel of what really practicing our faith is all about.
So I would have to say wether or not an OR member can come to gatherings all depends on what kind of gathering and their meanings :)

and if he/she is able to go to them because of distance/location.
i mean i am one of the first dutch members and i can't go to any Blot unless i travell to england for them (which i am almost 100% sure will do in october if i am correctly informed)
so location has lot to do with it.

The OR is a very family orientated organisation. As an OR member you become part of a family and so your wife would be most welcome to attend OR events. My wife is not an Odinist but as Hevedrungr said, she plays an active part in the OR.
Also, when you join you can list other family members on your membership (at no extra cost).
Obviously there are events, such as the Folk Camps that are for members only but that will always include spouse and children.
Hope to welcome you to the OR soon if you decide to join. Let me know if you have any other questions.

November Hrothgar, but you are more than welcome at any time.
BTW, set to work building that Netherlands section and some of us might even hop on a ferry and come to you for a blot!

Timo needs to get himself straightened out and hop on board with Boyke and really get things in The Netherlands moving.
Applied to join today. So hopefully I may have the pleasure of meeting some of you in the future.
