As I stated in my introduction, I am the President and Tribal Chieftains Representative as well as the Tribal Gythia for the Raven Wolf Tribal Alliance (RWTA). The RWTA is a highly Folkish and traditional organization which bases its practices on the ancestral traditions of our people. The RWTA was formed 10 years ago at the federal correctional institution in Pekin IL and since that time, it has grown to an organization that now has 15 kindreds in the state and federal prison sytems, with additional members on the outside. We have kindreds all over the US with a membership of over 150 people which includes men, women and children.
We publish all of our own materials; Handbook (With a special section on how to start a prison kindred in a federal or state prison), Gothi Manual, Directory, Chieftains Manual, Volunteer Handbook, Book List, By Laws and Articles of Incorporation and many other items for use in practicing Asatru - not only behind bars, but in the free world. We also have a quarterly magazine called, "Branches" which anyone can subscribe to. It includes news and updates about our prison kindreds, articles, poetry, art work and other items of interest.
Each year we have an Annual Althing where Tribal Law is voted on and enacted. That event also features Viking games, blots, feasts, sumbles, an arts and sciences competition, an auction, a fair, and a variety of other events for the four day event. This year it will be held over the Labor Day weekend in the forests of Illinois.
The RWTA is organized like a traditional Germanic Tribe, with a Tribal Chieftain, Elders, a Council of Three and other officers. We are growing rapidly and have many new kindreds waiting to become official members of the RWTA. In an effort to assist our membership better, we have recently started appointing Regional Chieftains who will be responsible for handling all the kindreds in their particular state.
Hopefully, in the near future we will have procured our tax numbers and can once again open Tyr's Tribal Bazaar which will feature hand made ritual items, books, jewelry, Viking clothing and other items for prisoners at a significantly reduced rate. Items will be offered on our website for those those on the outside as well, but at a slightly higher cost. We are also working on our website and hope to have it up and running some time this year.
