Does any one here own/use blades including knives, swords, ect.
I own a few the one I carry when I can is my cold steel TI LITE also own some crappy swords and another cold steel peace keeper 2.
As far as training goes not much more than books on Assassin knife fighting and tactics and various other martial art books.

I have several knives and Kabars, cold steel, blackstar, etc.
I went to a edged weapons school {knife fighting}in the military, and I have always loved knives. I am ordering my first sword soon.

Carry a Columbia River M1-13k Tactical. It's pretty nice, carbon steel. If I had known I'd be using it mostly for opening boxes I would have spent less!

Proper cold-iron boning knives are my choice. They're cheaper, for one thing, and they do just as good a job as any fancy-dan combat knife.

I do carry a two inch locking folder, it works great. As for "trainning" I just use the same princpals I would with empty hands. A knife is a tool and a short steel extenison of your hand and mind, pretty simple.

It appears after seeing them, that they aren't that bad of a knife... I have actually been highly impressed by some of the stuff Bud K carries. I have some from them that I only paid a couple of $$'s for and they have held up longer than some of the brand name blades that I own...

A bit more to it than that, you have to be FULLY prepared to be cut in a fight, and when you are, and will be, you can not let it distract you or you are dead.

Greetings,
I carry a 4 inch folder on a daily basis and train in knife work on a weekly basis. There are some great martial arts out there for learning to use blades in self-defense situations. If anyone is interested in learning I would suggest looking into resources by James Keating, Kelly Worden and Mike Janich. They have all put our videos and training material which is available from Paladin Press. Dogbrothers Martial Arts also does some great work with Blades and improvised weapons. If anyone would like links to some of these sites, send me a message.

I carry an 8 inch boot knife, a 3 1/2 inch serrated folder, and a double-bladed 3 1/2 folder. I am trained with them, and always have them on me at all times (even sleeping). I sleep with them out of habit of sleeping mere steps from the front door. It's a safety issue.

As a practioner in the UK and a politician, I have to be aware of the law.

Many 'heathens' are fighting for the right to carry a weapon as a 'rligous doctrine'..it is discussed in the Havamal; there have been a number of legal cases, won by the 'heathen' (a 'druid' in one case).

At the moment, we can carry a weapon if:

It is part of a national costume, or
We have 'due cause'..

And:

It is not concealed.

Living in the British equivilent of Crompton - Radford in Nottingham does not count as 'due cause', going to teach swordplay does.

I have:

6' Nordic Spear,
Viking Broadsword,
2' Langseax,
XV century Bastard Sword
XV century broadsword
4' leaf-bladed short spear
2 x 2-ball chain & mace
Chain & mace
pair matched hand axe
3 assorted hand axes
4' Daneax

Heavy bladed Ken (the 'armour breaker' type)

As I consider the carrying of a sword as the right of every free man, I don't...I have a few financial debts, so as my every day weapon, I carry a 5'6" hiking stave, carved with runes reminding me to keep to my chosen path.

As for training, I have been involved in swordplay of one type or another for 17 years.

I am a collector of many armanents. Here in England we have tough laws and unless you are carrying a toothpic you can be jailed (seriously, I am not jesting!!!) - we can not even carry batons!!! (of which my collection is vast but has recently been banned.)

However, I was, about 6 months ago, picked up by a law enforcement officer in the middle of Blot in my local woods. (You really have to understand the law in my country to relate to this recently (it is a new development since the gun laws of which I reject) - regardless of how (in American terms) how Jack-*** it is). Anyway, I was pulled up in the middle of Blotar. To cut a long story short I and my partner had a lenghthy discussion with Mr. Plod and he was so terrified of being accused of racism that he left in a scurry. Nothing more was heard. I hold, alone, many Blotar and I know for a fact that since the 7/7 incident everyone is too terrified (police wise) in my area to mumble a word.

I will post my collection here soon...

You're very lucky to be able to have some decent woods to hold a Blot in! The woods round my area are terrible. I was so disappointed when I went to see if I could find a decent place for contemplation and meditation in some local woodland. There were lots of houses round them and I could hear cars everywhere I went :(.
