I useually wear camo pants and metal shirts.

There's no official or unofficial "dress code." A lot of people in the UK tend to be into metal, others (like me) are pretty much middle class nerds, and we just dress the way we want.

You can buy t-shirts etc from a number of places online including the OR shop (but you'd have to be an OR member to wear the ones with the OR logo)
http://www.********rite.org/clothes.html

I am sure other people will chip in with suitable sites for this.

Dress code??

Hel pair of jeans from Primark 8 quid and a T-shirt for a fiver. Thats about it for me. I'll even nosey around second hand shops. I have long hair but thats because I refuse to pay 10 pounds for a hair cut on principle, and wont let my dad do it because last time I looked like Cadfael. :D

LMFAO!! That is funny!

I am one of those dress all in black kind of Odinists, but then I did that before I was an Odinist too. Maybe it is because black is slightly more flattering to the larger figure. Not that I'd know...........

Valaskjalf, go with what is comfortable for you. Camo trousers and metal shirts are fine.

It wasn't funny when I had to go to the hair dresser and explain what had happened. I don't think I dare go in there again. :o

There's no dress code. I tend to wear polo shirts, t-shirts, denim slacks, and sweatshirts, sweaters, etc. I have a some metal shirts, but they are increasingly not my preferred style of clothing anymore.

I dont know about the payment methods, but they have a lot of Heathen related stuff (including tunics hehe :D ). The last time I checked the site was only in German but, well, if it still is, just use babelfish. :D ;)

I've never heard much about a dress code...........but at the moment I'm wearing fatigues on a daily basis.........but I do have black boots to go with them and a real cool web belt to jazz it all up. :)

When not wearing that good stuff it's mostly shorts and t-shirts. To damn hot for anything else.

For Norse/Germanic-themed clothing, I would reccomend Thor Steinar (https://www.thorsteinar.de/shop/). Their prices are steep, but their stuff is high quality. I have one of their 'hood-jackets' and couldn't be happier with it.

It's funny how Thor Steinar try to write their name in Runestaves, but it's illegal to display the Sôwilô and Ôþala runes, so they say THNGR YTEI(N?)AR. Mind you, the runestaves are pretty mixed up anyway. Wearing Thor Steinar was a criminal offence in Germany for a while.

I wear jeans, some military surplus, shirt, jumper, band tshirt, kilt.

I like dark militant types of clothing, all though I must admit that I might be getting a little too old for it and I like alot of the Thor Steiner material. It seems more aristocratic and "high class", and if you think about it this image is far better for us than the goth/metal/industrial/punk image, and I'll admit it...I grew up like wearing that kind of stuff and I listen to that kind of music....all though I have been growing towards the Folk Metal and Neofolk stuff (albeit the more dignified bands such as Einherjar, Forefathers, Hagalaz Runedance, and Ostara...whos lyrics are perfectly healthy and positive). I'm left to wonder how healthy it is for my soul to listen to stuff by Cannible Corpse (with songs like "hammer smashed face" and "necropedophilia"), the Misfits (which has songs about killing babies and raping other peoples mothers), Wumpscut (which features pictures of people murdered in serial killings), and other such things. It makes me think that if I'm still listening to this, then there is a part of me that is adhering to this sick and maligned world veiw. Its not really a good thing, if you think about it.

I find it rather amusing that modern day society finds the Sowilo and Othilo runes so offensive, after all they mean "Honor" and "Homeland", and most liberals find those concepts offensive as well.

I have the same opinion on this. Its good to combat the mind numbing modern-day life though. While I may not like the lyrics, the shear aggression is needed in such a messed up time. Otherwise we would all be Emo's who cry at the smallest things and have absolutely no backbone.

I wasn't aware that the Othilo rune was offensive or "politically incorrect". I assumed the Sowilo rune was though because it was used in the SS logo. Why do people find the Othilo rune offensive?

Sigurd
11-30-2005, 04:31 PM
Maybe because it has been used as "Bannersign" by the Allgermanic Heathen Front, which we all know to be co-founded by Varg Vikernes, and who has been subject to quite some slander after what he has released upon his ideas of heathenry, maybe?!

Remember, though, also, that to NS people in those days not only the Sowilo but also the Oðala and the Algiz rune were very important, and are also used nowadays often by NS people, (the last one as being often seen as a sign of life rather than protection), and the general public is sometimes aware of this, especially the law-making people, and so on.

I would also say, that, in general many people find the runes offensive because they link it to National Socialism, obviously being the the closest use of the runes they have come across. The Runes are even banned in Germany for this reason. It means that I would find it very hard to walk around at home with clothes that sport the Fylfot or the Runes. Well...

Yes, but with the very intense yet positive content that the Neoclassical, Neofolk, and Folk Metal genres have to offer then what is the point in listening to The Mentors, Max Resist, or Suffocation?

Why do people find the Othilo rune offensive?Well aside from that fact that it basically means "Germanic Heritage", which is pretty much frowned upon these days, Ôþala was used by the Nazis in Croatia.

What all at once??? :p :DHaha, no :). Although, if I started wearing jeans under the kilt, that would stop all the "what do you wear under your kilt?" crap. "I don't wear anything, I keep it in good condition" got tired pretty fast.

Same here! I wear clothes bought from Primark. Pretty good quality also for the price. I wore a Morbid Angel t shirt for a while and a Rage Against The Machine hoody years ago (don't ask! I used to like them unfortunately...). As other people have said, I think it is important not to buy into the metal image. I may sound a bit judgemental for saying this but I think it doesn't give our faith a very good image if there are people walking round with t shirts for bands such as "Cannibal Corpse" or "My Dying Bride" because people tend to tar other people with the same brush nowadays if you know what I mean.

Don't get me wrong though, I love metal very much and find it to be a good outlet for anger or stress :).

Agreed! One of the bands I find that provides that aggression is Cephalic Carnage.

Well, I usually go in metal style. I have my steeltoecap boots (well, not right now, my mum said "that's not what is expected to be worn by an aspiring lawyer" :D ), I wear a pair of usually black jeans, and a black T-Shirt above it, but sometimes I wear a black Poloshirt.
For hair, I sport an undercut (less so at the minute ;), it's growing)
and I have middle-long wavy hair in growth, that is still very dark at the minute but in good light the very ends are already going into reddish areas again (my kid hair colour)

As we see here Liffrea is modelling the latest in scruffy git attire. He wears a crumpled grey cotton shirt made by some old woman in a garage, no doubt. His black combat trousers sport a stain that looks suspiciously like stale beer, and a touch of mud along the lower legs from walking his Labrador this morning. He is not wearing socks because he is at home, and besides they all have holes in them. He also believes it’s good to give his Hobbit like feet an airing. He is, however, wearing boxers, which were fresh on err sometime this week. These do not, thankfully, sport any suspicious stains. He has not shaven, but is reliably informed by his older brother that bum-fluff does not need shaving. In every way he exudes sexual magnetism. Grrr.

Folk, you have all forgotten the most basic of heathen dress items......

Thors Hammer! (or other Odinic symbol)

That's the first thing I put on in the morning - now now, get that picture out of your head! ;)

As long as I'm sporting my hammer, I feel well dressed and ready to face the world.

Cheers,

pffff...I don't even take it off over night, so you may picture my scenario.

I took it off (that ismy new hammer) yesterday for the first time in 3 1/2 weeks, and that was because it was kind of in the way of the book ;)

I thought your avatar was taken from the World Tree Publications Catalogue (http://asatru.org/wtree/?). You don't want to mailorder one? In that case you'd have to get one made locally. I had the fortune to walk into a jewelery shop one day and see one, but the jeweler told me it was only there because someone had come in with a picture of it and asked him to make it, and he made two.

My usual attire is either a pair of black canvas combat pants, a pair of German paratrooper boots, and a black t-shirt or black dress shirt, I used to also have about eight different big silver rings that I wore, but I forgot to bring them with me to the USA so my hands look rather unadorned now.

If not wearing my combat boots, I'll wear a pair of dark hiking boots and very occasionally a pair of black trainers, but usually I stick to dark blue jeans when wearing those latter.
